Gifts can be hard when you’re trying to be mindful of someone’s desire to have less clutter. Luckily, there are ways to show how much you appreciate them without giving them something they’ll have to dust and take care of!
A clutter free gift can be anything that meets the following requirements:
- It isn’t something physical
- It is consumable (or will go away naturally or with time)
- It fills a specific need for that person
Let’s dive in…
Non-physical:
Something that is not physical usually involves some type of experience or service gift. Something that the receiver will get to do or enjoy without the burden of taking care of it or finding a place for it on the shelf.
Consumable:
A consumable gift pretty much speaks for itself. This could be something that is meant to be consumed- be it a food item or beauty product- it has a natural expiration or shelf date so it’s long term storage won’t be a factor.
Specific Need:
Gifting something that fills a specific need for someone requires a good deal of listening or a close relationship. This might involve writing down something they once mentioned they could use, or just noticing during an interaction with them that they could really use x y or z. The point of this type of gift is that it is something they would probably have to buy for themselves eventually, but you getting it for them shows your thoughtfulness and allows them to keep that money to use elsewhere.
Ok, here we go with some of my FAVORITE clutter free gift ideas:
