What to Expect from Your Initial Consultation

    1. Initial Phone Interview: We’ll start with a brief phone conversation to discuss your specific needs, challenges, and goals. This allows us to understand how we can best assist you.
    2. 1 – Hour On-Site Consultation: During this consultation, Katie will:
        • Take necessary photos of your space.
        • Assess the types of items you have.
        • Measure your storage spaces to evaluate what’s needed.
        • Discuss your vision for the space and identify any obstacles.
    3. Custom Game Plan: After the consultation, you’ll receive a detailed game plan that includes:
        • Recommendations for organizing products tailored to your space.
        • Information on outside resources (if necessary).
        • A timeline for implementation.
        • Clear pricing details.

FAQs

Should I tidy/clean up before our consultation?

We get asked this all of the time, and while it is tempting to want to tidy up before we come, it is actually more beneficial to leave your space as it is so we can identify the key sources of clutter and where they tend to accumulate!

Will I need to provide bins, baskets, and organizing products?

We are happy to use whatever products you have first, if requested. Any of the recommended products on your game plan will be provided by Room For Peace Organizing (at cost). This way, we can ensure we get the best pricing for you through bulk purchasing, and we are able to bring the correct number of items without cluttering up your space any further with boxes and deliveries!

Will I need to be present the entire time during our sessions?

We ask that you be present during the decluttering portion of our organizing sessions, to make decisions of what to keep and what to let go of. However, the sorting and actual organizing portions of the sessions can be done independently, while saving any question items until the end. In some cases, decluttering questions can be sent remotely using pictures and videos if you are unable to be present.

Where do you take donations?

We are proud to partner with several local non-profits, including East Cooper Community Outreach, Habitat for Humanity, Lowcountry Orphan Relief, Charleston Animal Society, and Goodwill. When you work with us on your organizing project, we’ll help you identify items you no longer need that can be donated.

    • Donation Guidelines: We provide information on what types of items each partnered organization accepts.
    • Specific Charities: If you have a specific charity in mind that you would like to donate to, we’re happy to accommodate your preferences!
    • Transportation: We take care of transporting your donations to the appropriate organizations, making the process easy and hassle-free for you.

How long does each room typically take to complete?

The time required to organize each room can vary greatly depending on several factors, including the amount of decluttering needed, the presence of furniture or shelving implementation, and the overall complexity of the space.

As a general rule of thumb, we can typically finish 1 to 3 rooms in a day. During our initial consultation, we’ll assess your specific situation and provide you with a more accurate estimate of the number of hours required. This way, you’ll have a clear idea of what to expect!

Will you teach me how to maintain the systems?

Absolutely! Our goal is to create a system that is easy to follow, setting you up for long-term success. We believe in empowering you with the skills and knowledge to keep your space organized.

During our process, we will:

    • Show You Where Everything Goes: You’ll learn the designated spots for all your items.
    • Teach Folding Techniques: We’ll demonstrate how to fold and store items efficiently.
    • Explain the Why: Understanding why items are placed in certain spots helps reinforce the system.
    • Share Tips and Tools: We’ll provide tricks and tools to help you easily return items to their designated places, even when things get a little out of order.
